Police use drones to prevent crime and public safety

quadcopters drones

You probably don't think of surveillance applications when you think about a police drone use. The benefits of a police drone are many. It can be faster than a helicopter and can take pictures of natural catastrophe sites, investigate crime scenes, and gather crucial intelligence from the skies. Police drones can also be used to locate fugitives, and chase down suspects. It is an invaluable tool for enhancing public safety and crime prevention.

Grabbit G6

The police department will soon have a new technology, a drone. Grabbit G6 cop drone uses facial recognition technology in order to identify protestors. HigherGround invented this technology and it is called Live911. The technology allows a police teleoperator to listen to 911 calls in real time. This information gives tactical intelligence to the police teleoperator and helps him launch the drone based the emergency reported. Police departments can use drones to reach a scene even before officers are aware.

Skyseer

A SkySeer fully loaded costs between US$25,000-30000. The cost includes all electronics, a camera surveillance system, and ground station with computer interfaces. The interface can transmit live video to the laptop of the police. Once a case is over, the video can be recorded to DVD or Macromedia Flash. You can also set a flight pattern for your drone.

AeroVironment

Grand Forks, N.D. Sheriff's Department, is one of few agencies that are using AeroVironment Drones for Police. The company's drone is similar to a model airplane with four rotors and a video camera. Instead of watching a suspect, it can follow them around and take images for authorities to use during an arrest or investigation. The Qube is its name. Contrary to what it appears to be, the drone is not a plaything.

Predator

U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection controls a Predator drone. It is a highly-sophisticated aerial surveillance tool. These aircraft are equipped with thermal imaging cameras and cameras that can fly at high speeds to capture criminal footage. A Predator B flew overhead during civil unrest in Minnesota. Nelson County police attribute the arrest to the Brossart surveillance family. Although privacy concerns still exist, drones can be used for law enforcement and have many benefits.

Reaper

The MQ-9 Reaper is a remotely piloted aircraft used by the United States Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force, and the UK's Ministry of Defence. The Reaper can hunt targets and observe terrain. Multiple sensors and payloads such as a thermographic camera allow the Reaper to gather signals intelligence data on a target, and its satellite link allows it to receive operator commands in less than one second.

How To

Repairing A Damaged Drone Motor

First, identify the broken part of the motor to repair it. The best way to do so is to take the propeller off the motor shaft. Then remove any wires and take a look at the motor's inner workings. If there is something wrong with the motor, you will know which part you need to repair.

If the motor has not been damaged, it is safe to fly again.

Imagine a motor that isn't turning anymore because it has been bent. The motor must be bent again. You could use a vice grip or a pair of pliers to hold the motor while bending it back into shape. After you've completed the above, ensure that you inspect the motor for signs and wear.

Once you're satisfied that everything's ok, put the propeller back onto the motor shaft and reattach the wires. You are now ready for your drone to fly.
